YUNGBLUD Shares Emotionally Raw 'Mars' Video

We're just days away from the release of YUNGBLUD's sophomore album Weird!, and before it comes out the English rocked decided to give fans one more taste of what to expect in the form of what he calls "the most important thing we’ve ever made": a song called "Mars."

The emotional track is about a trans woman YUNGBLUD met while on Warped Tour in 2018. “She told me how her parents had come to the show with her, and how seeing our community helped them to understand that her coming out as trans wasn’t just a phase – this is who she really was,” he explained. “It made me cry to think that we could have that kind of impact and change people’s perceptions, just by being ourselves.”

His self-directed video is a raw representation of those feelings. "i loved directing this video for it is about all of us," YUNGBLUD wrote on Instagram. "from racial inequality to oppression against the lgbtqia+ community to transphobia, climate change denial and beyond. we, us, our generation are going to be the ones to change it. is there any life on mars? yes, we are the life, we are here and we are breathing."

"Mars" is the fourth track YUNGBLUD's shared off the upcoming album, following "Strawberry Lipstick," "God Save Me But Don't Drown Me Out," and the title track. Weird! is slated for a December 4 release. Watch the emotionally raw "Mars" video above.
