TOOL's 'Fear Inoculum' Is The No. 1 Album In The Country

2017 Governors Ball Music Festival - Day 3

Tool officially has the No. 1 album in the country with Fear Inoculum, its first new album in 13 years.

In taking No. 1, Tool achieved the biggest debut for a rock album in a year and nudged Taylor Swift's latest album, Lover, out of the top spot, where that album debuted a week earlier, Billboard reports.

For context, the majority of Swift's ascendance to pop superstardom has taken place in the period between Tool's last album to this new one. Her debut single came out some six weeks after Tool's 10,000 Days was released.

Anticipation over Fear Inoculum couldn't have been any higher. Fans have been speculating about the record for years, and more so from when the release date was unofficially announced through its official August 30 release.

Adding to Tool's dominant return to the new music space was the band's long-awaited debut on digital streaming services, which also served as a boon to album sales. Tool's prior four full-length albums all charted in the Top 20 the week after they became live on streaming platforms.

Tool will tour the U.S. in support of Fear Inoculum this fall. Tickets for almost every date sold out within hours of going live Friday.
